So intricately is this dark tale woven that you find yourself engulfed in tension, hoping someone somewhere will listen to her. Housework be damned, wedding baking be damned, school prep be damned. Adam is sexy and intense, and easily draws Alice under his spell. The more Alice learns about him, the clearer it is that Adam is dangerous. Oct 19, Gary rated it really liked it. Killing me softly
The storyline came across as just ridiculous: Adam Tallis, a famous mountaineer, hero of a tragedy on Chungawat, falls deeply, passionately and obsessively in love with Alice Loudon the first time their eyes meet in the street. Killing Me Softly is a psychological thriller by writing team Nicci French from Sep 01, Lisa rated it did not like it Shelves: In he won Vogue magazine's Writing Talent Contest, and from to he was their theatre critic.
I read this in translation so this may niccci been an addition by the translator but I struggled to understand when she had difficulty pdg Chungawat.
Within hours they are in bed together, within days she has left steady, loving boyfriend Jake to move in with Adam. Despite the severe change in her behavior and exposed bruises since meeting him, her concerns about his past are dismissed by friends because Adam is just such a great guy.
This one didn't quite do it for me. Okay so with just that intro Killihg was alittle lost on relating to her, who does this, she doesnt even know anything about him, where she is going or anything but follows this crazy quiet dude anywhere it was creepy. I recommend Nicci French's books just not this one. Her life is filled with Adam, but in a dark twisted way. Scientist Alice Loudon was in relationship with boyfriend Jake.
Alice meets Adam randomly on the street one day and they soon very soon actually embark on a passionate love affair.

Jun 30, Zoeytron rated it it was ok Shelves: Sadly for me I ke this book as part of a set of Nicki French titles so I'm hoping the next three are somewhat better. It's pcf know as erotomania. This is a story to sink your teeth in. The pacing is swift and the dialogue sharp and realistic.
Her quest for answers brings her where she never expected or wanted to be. The signs of Adam being controlling and abusive start almost immediately, yet in her obsession, she ignores them. There were parts of it I really enjoyed but there was little in eoftly way of suspense for me. This is where I would say goodbye Adam!
Knowing they did ugly things, committed murder?
Indeed, this is a jarring, disturbing story sofrly will chill you and leave you shaken. If you've ever been in a relationship like Alice and Adam's even if to a lesser degreeyou can wholly relate to Alice's story; wanting something SO bad, even knowing how detrimental it is to your own well-being.
This book falls short of the other books I have read but nevertheless gripped me and made me want to read more.
Alice fades into new territory as Adam begins to possess every aspect of her being. They're all a bit quick to hit the sheets with whatever moves, and their propensity to smoke more and profane louder than anyone else in the room is legendary. I really did have mixed feelings about this book, I did enjoy it and couldn't put it down but overall felt it lacked reality and the writing style was not as pdt as I have got to expect from Nicci French.
If you're reading this to decide whether to read this book do yourself a huge favour and don't bother. kjlling
Alice Loudon m a typical life that most would aspire to - a serious boyfriend, a close-knit group of friends, and a good job as a research scientist.
